Productivity tools

Joan Westenberg is going to “shut down [their] laptop, take a deep breath, step back from the endless to-do lists, and reconnect with what makes me a Goddamn human.

When you see someone lamenting the effects of focusing too much on “productivity,” there’s almost always some mention of the tools they use. The tools, these days, almost always include a computer of some sort (I’m including smartphones as “computers”).

But what if a thing that makes you a goddamn human is writing? Sure, there are other tools for writing, like a fountain pen and a stack of foolscap. But the tool is not the act or. the process.

One of the things that makes me a goddamn human is opening up the laptop.

About Me

I’m Pete Harbeson, a writer located near Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to writing my own content, I’ve learned to translate for my loquacious and opinionated pup Chocolate. I shouldn’t be surprised, but she mostly speaks in doggerel. You can find her contributions tagged with Chocolatiana.
