The Internet Archive unveiled a bust of Aaron Swartz. Swartz died 12 years ago by suicide; persecuted mercilessly by Carmen Milagros Ortiz, a careerist US Attorney who wanted to make an example of someone who downloaded too much information from an MIT archive that was free to download. MIT caved to the craven prosecutor too. Swartz “co-founded Reddit, helped develop RSS, and was instrumental in the creation of Creative Commons,” and also helped developed the MarkDown notation system that’s now used in some enormous percentage of writing for the Internet.
