Politics in the US seems to be more about nonsensical blaming than it used to be. I think it’s because once they’re elected, the greedheads and powerheads just assume that the rest of us are stupid, and will just accept whatever tripe comes out of their mouths. This may be at least partly due to what reporting has become; just taking dictation and reporting that “Senator Doe said…” with no further investigation or thought. Or even worse, how many thousands of “news stories” are nothing but a list of social media posts from somebody we’re supposed to have heard of? Again, no further investigation or thought.
Anyway, here’s yet another example. Over the previous four years, very few farmers in Arkansas went broke and filed for bankruptcy. In 2024, there were 45 across the entire state. Now, however, in the first quarter of 2025, there have been 88 filings.
Cue the politician (Arkansas Senator John Boozman): “Our farmers are really struggling. If you’re growing something, unless you’re in the cattle business, it’s going to cost you more money to grow the crop than you can sell it for.“
If you have a general idea about causes leading to effects, you might think that something happening in the first quarter of 2025 was connected to the bankruptcies. Not Boozman. He blames the administration that was in control during the whole span of low farming bankruptcy rates.
The powerheads and the greedheads just think we’re stupid.
By the way, Boozman is old (74), rich, and white. Surprised?
