DOGEing off

Remember how mental midget Musk was supposedly eliminating “inefficiency” and “overspending” in government? And his squad of infant tech bros were supposed to be really smart? Yeah, well, in their quest to steal personal data from government agencies, they seem to have missed ninety-three billion dollars that the eminently unqualified Fox News host Hegseth wasted in one month (September) in 2025.

In his quest for “more lethality,” the spending included:

• Herman Miller Aeron desk chairs
• Stands for fruit baskets
• Alaskan King Crab ($2 million!)
• Ribeye steak ($15 million!)
• Salmon ($1 million!)
• Sushi preparation tables ($26 thousand!)
• Ice cream machines ($124 thousand!)

And remember how, in between shots of whiskey, Hegseth complained about seeing “fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon?” He took care of that problem by ordering $130 thousand worth of donuts. Not just one order; that’s well over 200 orders.

Very efficient. Very lethal. Although he probably deserves a pass on the lethality side, because aside from the fruit-related furniture, those purchases really can be kinda deadly.

About Me

I’m Pete Harbeson, a writer located near Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to writing my own content, I’ve learned to translate for my loquacious and opinionated pup Chocolate Bossypaws. I shouldn’t be surprised, but she mostly speaks in doggerel. You can find her contributions tagged with Chocolatiana.

Check out my other blog, Techlimitics, where I’m grappling with the nature of simplicity.
