Dithering

I’ve heard the name Ezra Klein, but I can’t say I ever read anything he wrote, and I definitely never listened to his podcast before. I’m not much of a podcast listener. But I did listen to his recent conversation with Te-Nehisi Coates.

The occasion of their conversation was a disagreement. Klein had written something complimentary about the late Charlie Kirk. That Kirk had been “practicing politics the right way,” or something to that effect. Coates and Klein are evidently friends, and Coates was offended that Klein had glossed over (or completely ignored) all the hateful and divisive things Kirk had said over the years.

I have to say that now that I’ve listened to one episode of the Ezra Klein Show, I’m not going back for more. The conversation stretched for nearly two hours, and all I heard from Klein was hand-wringing and dithering. Good grief. This guy has a national audience for both his written work and his podcast? I think I would more or less agree with his positions, or at least what it seems like his positions might be. But it’s impossible to tell whether he actually holds any positions firmly.

About Me

I’m Pete Harbeson, a writer located near Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to writing my own content, I’ve learned to translate for my loquacious and opinionated pup Chocolate Bossypaws. I shouldn’t be surprised, but she mostly speaks in doggerel. You can find her contributions tagged with Chocolatiana.

Check out my other blog, Techlimitics, where I’m grappling with the nature of simplicity.
