Rabbits and Squirrels

Rabbits are bad
But squirrels are worse
Rabbits are quiet
But squirrels can curse!

My sister and I
Can’t abide either sort
And we chase them away.
It’s a job and a sport.

I don’t try to bite them
But Hayley did once
Cause she’s fast, and the rabbit
Was kind of a dunce

Who didn’t quite get
That Hayley is quicker
And also an excellent
Shorty-cut picker.

But when Hayley caught one
She sent it away
“That dumb rabbit,” said Hayley,
“Didn’t know how to play.”

“He just sat there,”
She said, “even when I yelled ‘tag!’”
“Didn’t say ‘yeah you won,’
Didn’t give me a wag.”

So now we just chase them
Right back to their house.
A rabbit’s as useless
As a bird or a mouse.

About Me

I’m Pete Harbeson, a writer (among other things) located near Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to writing my own content, I’ve learned to translate for my loquacious and opinionated pup Chocolate Bossypaws. No surprise, she mostly speaks in doggerel. You can find her contributions tagged with Chocolatiana.

Check out my other blog, Techlimitics, where I’m grappling with the nature of simplicity. You can also find some of my minor software projects at GitHub. Nothing very impressive. I mostly write tiny utilities in Python.

I find myself suddenly de-corporatized (their choice, not mine). To help keep the lights on, buy me a coffee!
