I never heard of Yayoi Kusama while she lived. I don’t much understand art until long afterward, but now that I’ve heard of her, I think I would have liked her work. Because I do now. RIP.

I knew about a small subset of Tim Curry’s work. I enjoyed his performance in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Clue, but other than that I didn’t really follow his work or career. Now I wish I had paid more attention. RIP.

I knew about Dolly Parton, because how could you not? I’m not a big country music fan, but her voice and her effervescent joy came through whenever she did emerge into my sphere of notice. To be honest I didn’t like her voice as much as most people seemed to, but some of her songs were amazingly good. Jolene in particular. And although I was never aware of it, she was a tremendous humanitarian. RIP.

Death is part of the human condition, and makes us what we are, but sometimes it really sucks. Although in a larger sense…maybe not so much.
