Simplicity rearranged

unmonetizable content since 1997

The dog optimist

Hayley just eats when she’s hungry.
She says that she’ll wait for a while.
I’m always ready for a treat or a snack
And either one makes me smile.

When I was a pup
There were bad folks around
And I learned right away
I should eat what I found

But Hayley has never
met anyone mean
And she doesn’t believe
When I say what I’ve seen.

She just knows she can wait
And there’ll be plenty more
At most a small woof
And her bowl’s on the floor

She knows I am different
But doesn’t insist;
That’s my sister:
incurable dog-optimist.

About Me

I’m Pete Harbeson, a writer (among other things) located near Boston, Massachusetts. In addition to writing my own content, I’ve learned to translate for my loquacious and opinionated pup Chocolate Bossypaws. No surprise, she mostly speaks in doggerel. You can find her contributions tagged with Chocolatiana.

Check out my other blog, Techlimitics, where I’m grappling with the nature of simplicity. You can also find some of my minor software projects at GitHub. Nothing very impressive. I mostly write tiny utilities in Python.

I find myself suddenly de-corporatized (their choice, not mine). To help keep the lights on, buy me a coffee!
